I went to my first spinning lesson!

Wow! On Saturday I went to Uncommon Threads in Palm Harbor, FL for my first handspinning lesson. Allison Klay was my instructor. I used a drop spindle and a wheel. It was great.

I bought a top whorl spindle and some roving. Part of it was morino and part of it was liecester.

I have to wait 3 weeks for my next lesson. Wah!

I have to practice, practice, practice till I go back. Allison said that I will learn to ply and may get to try some of the more luscious fibers - alpaca or silk or llama.

Check back for more.

Still Updating My Stash on Ravelry

I have a very BIG yarn stash. Most of which existed before Knit 'n Knibble did. I have been adding it to Ravelry since November. I do a whole bunch and then get bored and quit.

With Vakara coming to stay with me for 2 weeks I have to get all the yarn out of the guest room so she has a place to sleep. So that has been an inspiration to get it done. But even when I get all of what I moved to the room done I'll only be about 1/2 or 3/4 done. But every little bit counts. At least I'm getting a better understanding of what I have and where it is stored.

Next I have to inventory my needles, crochet hooks, .........

TTFN!!

Slowly, but surely!

I forgot to tell you that S.E.X. stands for stash enhancement experience. And it was!
Vakara will be he in 2 weeks and will have her first knitting lesson. I really hope she likes it.
Well I am very tired and have a bunch to do tomorrow so I will sign out for now.

I went to Knit 'n Knibble for S.E.X.!!!!!!!

I must admit,I stole that line from NamasteJulie.

Knit 'n Knibble had their 2009 Anniversary Sale on Saturday. I was one of the top 50 purchasers for the previous year. That gave me the privilege of private shopping on Friday ($305 and change) and then went back on Saturday and because I was on of the first 25, I got a coupon for an additional 5% on yarn purchases. Good thing, too, since I spent another $328.

I also won a door prize: A cardigan kit from Reynolds that had 15 hanks of Ole! Ole! and the pattern. Really nice.

Most of that yarn has been added to my "stash" on Ravelry. And while I adding that I also added some more of my previous stash.

I really need to retire so I can concentrate on my family, Yorkies and knitting.

Well have to make plane reservations to fly to Kansas to get my granddaughter. She is spending 2 weeks with me in Florida. Yippee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Catching Up!

Been super busy! I'm getting ready to have my only grandchild stay with me for 2 weeks without her Mom. I'm so stoked!

We are going to Cypress Gardens Adventure Park and she is going to have a private knitting lesson at Knit 'n Knibble. Then there's swimming and Yorkie puppies and Disney World when her Mom comes for a couple of days. My granddaughter hasn't been to Disney World yet.

Last weekend we saw Lynyrd Skynryd in concert. That was a hoot.

I have completed some knitting projects and have taken several classes at Knit 'n Knibble.com

More later, on to an exciting summer!

I have been absent for a long time! Sorry:(

On January 14th the grandpuppies were born by c-section and we lost the mommy to cardiac arrest. So a bunch of mixed feelings and a lot of late nights bottle feeding the 5 pups. She had 1 girl and 4 boys. We are keeping the girl, now named Baby Girl and the runt, now named Tinker Toy. They all have their eyes open and eat alot. Pics and more news of the pups to come.

WOW,another week gone and I wish I could knit more. (0r what do I do about the babies?)

Only worked 3 days this week and it seemed like forever and at the same time flew by. I have almost finished the second Lucy bag. I should finish the knitting this weekend and cast on the third one.

I really need to get busy on two of the other projects I have listed in Ravelry. One of them is my daughter's graduation sweater or she will be thirty when she gets it (today is her 28th birthday) and the Patti Sweater. The Patti sweater is for a class and we have to have the lower back panel and lower front panels and the lower part of the sleeves. The pattern is from one from the Noro Revisited and is called Bettna.

More later....

Found something else I have to have!

Well I got the MP3 player and took it off my wishlist. I love it. I definitely will use it. I am still learning how to do things to it and with it.

Now I will add an upcoming DVD from Schoolhouse Press,Inc. Meg is doing a DVD on the Rib Warmer. Gotta have it.

I have challenged my best friend, Grandma Disney, to complete at least one knitting or crocheting project a month in 2008. They don't have to be projects that have been started in 2008, just finished in 2008. So far have finished 2 this year. I completed the knitting last year and wove in the ends this week.

I will get quite a bit of knitting done this weekend because I am on call starting at 10PM tomorrow night.

TTFN!!

P.S.

I cast on the second Lucy Bag (called Kenten's Lucy Bag on Ravelry) on Tuesday. It is now more than 70% done. The knitting will be done tomorrow or Saturday. I want to be able to cast on the third one by Sunday.

Woohoo! The 3 Lucy Bags will be part of my 12 projects completed in 2008 and two of them are either birthday or Christmas presents for this year. I'm on a roll!
